    Class Prescribed Leotard Color

    Creative Movement Pink
    Pre-Primary & Primary Blue
    Grades I and II Red
    Grade III Purple
    Grade IV Royal Blue
    Grade V Black
Intermediate & Advanced Color of Choice

  • All girls will wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Dance sweaters and leg warmers may be worn.

  • Boys will wear black tights, white T-shirt, and black ballet slippers.

  • All ballet students Grade I and above must have their hair up. This means that girls with longer hair will have a bun, neatly secured with hair pins, not just gathered in a scrunchy. Girls with short hair will use a cloth hair band to keep the hair back from their face; plastic hair bands fall off, slip and just don’t do the job.

  • Character skirts and shoes are available at the studio for girls in Ballet Grades I-III

Jazz:
Students will wear leotards in colors of their choice with jazz pants  Students in the beginning and intermediate Jazz will wear black jazz shoes.  Girls in advanced Jazz will wear low t-strap heels.  Boys will wear black jazz shoes.  Hair will be firmly secured away from the face.

Tap:

Students should wear shorts or jazz pants with black tap shoes.  Hair will be firmly secured away from the face.

Modern:

Students should wear leotard and footless tights.  No shoes are needed; students will dance barefoot.  Hair will be firmly secured away from the face.

WARNING:  Students who forget shoes, leotards, etc will not be allowed to participate in class but will instead observe the class. Students whose hair is not properly secured will also observe. Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late for class will not participate in the class, but will observe.  Dance is a discipline.  Part of that discipline is wearing the right outfit, having hair neatly up, getting to class on time and remembering to bring everything you need. It is also a sign of respect for your teacher, your fellow students and yourself to follow the rules!  Uniformity in ballet wear enables the teacher to see the students placement, position, and general technique.  Proper dress and grooming are part of the ballet discipline.  For this reason, no bulky sweaters, T-shirts, cami's, shorts, or other concealing garments are allowed.

"Dance skills are disciplines which require concentration, self control (and) disciplined practice in order to be acquired. It's how you keep order in class. It's how you (the teacher) become free to teach and the children become free to learn: by adherence to the traditional protocol of a dance class"
