ALICE IN WONDERLAND

SYNOPSIS

Scene I – A garden

Alice is playing with her friends and her sister. After a while they become tired and all lie down for a nap. Alice is almost asleep when a white rabbit runs through the garden. Alice follows him

Scene II – A very different garden!

Alice has followed the rabbit into a strange world. As they come into this very strange garden, the rabbit is surrounded by Chess Pieces and Cards, urging him to hurry. He leaves with them, abandoning Alice.

She has barely looked around when the March Hare, Mad Hatter and Doormouse come in for  tea, carrying a table. They invite Alice to join them and then leave.  Alice cries and is swept away into a stream of tears.

Here she encounters the Gryphon, Walrus, Mermaid and mock turtle. With them, she joins a beach quadrille with other water creatures. She is spun around and finds herself back in the garden.

She meets the Cheshire cat, the Caterpillar and it’s Arabian attendants, and many flowers. There is a unicorn that Alice tries to befriend. Soon the white rabbit comes to take her to a special Croquet match between the red and white queens.

Alice finds all the creatures she has met attending the match. The queens and duchess invite her to play. The red and white queens cheat continually until Alice gets angry and give one of them a shove. This leads to a romping chase, with everyone involved.

Scene III- back in the garden

Alice awakes with her friends and realizes that it’s all been a dream.
